Toxicology: effects of chemicals on the body.
Toxicology is a science focused on the study of the effects of chemicals on organisms. Toxicology uses scientific knowledge and methods, mainly from Biology, Chemistry, Medicine and Pharmacology.
Major areas of Toxicology:
- Clinical Toxicology: treats people who have gone into poisoning (medicines, chemicals, gases, etc.), diagnosing and undergoing a treatment to detoxify and recover the body of this patient;
- Analytical Toxicology: aims to identify toxic substances in blood, urine, hair, saliva. It also analyzes toxicology in certain areas of the environment (water, air, soil).
- Experimental Toxicology: aims to test the toxic effects of certain chemicals on laboratory animals (mainly mice).
